Keeping Lago Vista Free From Litter Since 1992
Our recent City-Wide Trash Pickup Day was a huge success — our BIGGEST turnout ever with over 100 amazing volunteers hitting the streets to clean up our community! 🌎💪
To spark a little friendly competition, we challenged participating groups to collect as much litter as possible. The prize? A rotating trophy and bragging rights until our next event! 😄
We're thrilled to announce that the very first KLVB Trash Pickup Champion Award goes to...
🥇 Lago Vista High School! 🥇
Led by the incredible Ms. Heather Koenning, this powerhouse group included over 40 students — the Valkyries Dance Team, National Honor Society members, and her passionate classroom students. Together, they made a HUGE impact on keeping Lago Vista beautiful!
👏 Thank you to everyone who came out and made a difference. We can't wait to see who will rise to the challenge next time!

Anodamine’s/KLVB's Earth Day Event final numbers are: 18 Bags, 2 hours of volunteer time
We plan on a once-per-month schedule unless we notice garbage collecting faster or slower.
KLVB would like to welcome Anodamine as KLVB first Business to partner with us. KLVB would like to invite and challenge other businesses in Lago Vista to join KLVB and partner with us.
What a Day, Lago Vista!
On Saturday, 95 amazing volunteers showed up for KLVB’s largest-ever community-wide cleanup — and the results were incredible!
Over 3,200 lbs of trash collected total, including...
100+ lbs of metal (pipes, signs, even an old CRT TV!)
8 tires, 3 rugs, and a car mat
Dumpster = filled
Plus 2.5 truckloads taken to Public Works!
We are beyond grateful to all who made this possible, including:
Brookshire Brothers – for keeping everyone hydrated
Anodamine employees
The Lago Vista Police Department – for marking danger zones and working right alongside us
Lago Vista Public Works Department – for stepping in and helping with tire disposal
The City of Lago Vista and Parks & Recreation – for their ongoing support
Phoenix Automotive – for volunteering to handle tire disposal
LV Lions Club
LV Women’s Club
LV Run/Walk Club
LV High School students – including the Valkyries, National Honor Society, and Marching Band
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
And a very special thank you to Pam Berger, who spearheaded this event with heart, hustle, and grace. KLVB had never attempted anything on this scale — and Pam made it happen. THANK YOU, PAM!
Now it’s time to crunch the numbers and determine our Spring Sweep Champions . The winning group will be honored at our next KLVB meeting!
If you snapped photos during the event, please send them to klvb1955@gmail.com so we can share more highlights from the day!
Thank you all for your time, energy, and commitment to our community. You make Lago Vista a truly beautiful place to live. Be sure to listen to the Video!!!!
Sorry I have not received any photos from the Lions Club so I am unable to share their great volunteers at this time. I hope I have not missed any photos of any groups but If I have I will post again. I am just sharing a few of the trucks full of the litter that was picked up.

LA PRIMAVERA race is February 28th-March 2nd. I just received this email from the President of KLVB.
I hope you all have a chance to drive down Boggy Ford, especially if it is something you do regularly. I had the pleasure of doing so yesterday at around 11:30 after our crew picked up litter for La Primavera. It was immaculate! With the change in date, the pickup crew was15 instead of 30 strong, but we got it done! The city was also out preparing the course. Thank you to all who came and worked! The total bag count was 26 large, 8 medium, and 1 small. The treasure trove included metal pipes, a tire, pvc piping, styrofoam sheeting, plastic sheeting, wire, scrap metal, and plastic fencing as well as the usual bottles, cans, and wrappers. I am sending a picture of the partial crew.

One of the most common pieces of litter is paper products. A considerable amount of paper litter in Lago Vista comes from recycle cart spillage during collection. Our recycle material is not bagged like our trash. When the carts are picked up lightweight loose pieces can fall out and are carried by the wind to litter our streets and roads. Overfilling recycle carts is a common cause of spills. Cart lids should be tightly closed as shown above. Other ways to avoid spillage is to avoid putting separate small pieces of paper into the cart. Put small pieces of paper in recycled envelops. Break down cardboard boxes. Put shredded paper in paper bags. Finally, check the area and pick up and spilled items. If we all accept the Lago Litter Challenge we can reduce unsightly litter and Keep Lago Vista Beautiful.
If every person in Texas picked up just two pieces of trash every month, our streets and highways would be completely litter-free in just one year!!
